Season 7

For our 7th Season we bring you six stories that challenge our very sense of self. What happens when a person, place or event whip your identity into the opposite direction? Through seminal works by Pulitzer Prize winners, prolific novelists, political activists, and masters of the theatrical canon, we are initiating a deep conversation about what it means to be human, and how these works reflect the trials and tribulations we experience in today's society.

Our 7th Season was produced, in part, by the generous contributions of the Samuel I Newhouse Foundation and the Ravenal Foundation. It included Main Stage productions of: GETTING OUT by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Marsha Norman; RHINOCEROS by French playwright, Eugene Ionesco (known as one of the leading architects of absurdist theater); and MACBETH by William Shakespeare, in honor of the 400th Anniversary of his death.

Our TSP Unplugged Series gives patrons an exciting and exclusive look behind the scenes at The Seeing Place, and includes an opportunity to participate with our artists in exploring four important texts of our time. The readings included: 1984, an adaptation of the classic novel by George Orwell by Matthew Dunster; NECESSARY TARGETS by Tony Award winner Eve Ensler; and AFTER THE REVOLUTION by Obie and Whiting Award winner Amy Herzog.

Even though these 6 plays span hundreds of years and countless generations of storytelling, the subjects brooched and lessons learned are achingly relevant today. We've chosen these plays to open up a dialogue with our audience about the world around us. How can we make an impact? How can we build on what we've learned from the people who've come before us?

Thank you for joining us for our landmark 7th Season and being a part of a new conversation to connect with your fellow man. Perhaps, as Gandhi said, we together can be the change we wish to see in the world.
